Valentines Day: a time when people exchange cards, chocolates, and roses. It’s a time to search for that perfect gift to tell someone how much you love them whether a best friend or that special someone. It may be filled with stress trying to make the perfect day or for others a day of loneliness. A day filled with sadness for some who feel “if I just had that special someone my life would be complete.” And for some a reminder of never having experienced true love.

But what is true love…?

A love that knows no boundaries. No limits. A love that would give of itself no matter the cost to have a relationship with you. A love that would go even to the point of death to prove to you how much you were loved. A perfect love. Is there such a thing?  Were you ever so important that perfect love would make that sacrifice for you?

The answer…yes!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. – John 3:16

Perfect love died for you. Love came as a man. God’s son, and paid the price for your sin that you might live in a restored relationship with God.

..for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus - Romans 3:23-24

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  – 1 John 4:9-11

God loved us first. Even in our sinful state. No matter who you are. No matter what you’ve done. Through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, through his death and resurrection we have the opportunity to experience perfect love. A love that was given for you. This Valentines Day don’t miss God’s perfect gift. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience true and perfect love. And through His love the opportunity to love others more deeply. We are all guilty of sin. Confess it to God today. Turn away from sin and turn to Christ.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. – Romans 10:9-10

Be complete in Christ as you love Him and love others. If you've accepted the free gift. Pick up His love letter to you. The bible. Now it's time to grow. Stay rooted in the truth.
